Senior Jacob Marrs and freshman D'Marion Erlenbeck started the day out strong at the MHSAA Individual Wrestling Regionals in Cadillac.

In his first match, Marrs faced Dylan Scholz of Waterford Kettering. He easily defeated the fourth place finisher out of District 10-2, winning the match by pin. He followed up the victory with a match against Metro League opponent Jase Grundy, a Linden senior. Marrs and Grundy faced each other in the finals of the Metro League Championships, with Grundy coming out on top by a score of 4-7. However, Marrs was able to avenge that loss with his own 7-4 victory, setting up a first place match against Easton Phipps of Goodrich. His 2-0 start on the day also guarantees Marrs his second trip to the MHSAA Individual Wrestling State Finals.

Erlenbeck, a freshman standout for the Mustangs, started his day against Jack Conley from Lake Fenton, who placed second in his district. Erlenbeck worked quickly to secure the win, pinning the higher seeded and more experienced senior in the first period. His second match was against Trevor Swiss, a 41-0 senior out of Petosky. Erlenbeck fought hard but unfortunately lost the battle by a score of 1-15. The loss sets up a blood round match between Erlenbeck and Gaylord senior Gus James. A win in the blood round would secure Erlenbeck's place in the state finals.

Keep grinding, boys!

The Varsity Wrestling team traveled to Gaylord on Saturday to compete in the MHSAA Individual District and had two wrestlers place, earning them a spot at the regional tournament. Freshman D'Marion Erlenbeck placed third in the 150 lb weight class and senior Jacob Marrs placed first in the 190 lb weight class. They will travel to Cadillac on Saturday, February 18, for the regional tournament.

Good luck this evening to our Varsity wrestlers, who will take on the North Branch Broncos in a team district match. Admission for the event is $7.00 (cash only) and wrestling begins at 7:00 pm. 

Let's go, Mustangs!

The Mustang wrestlers will finish up regular season league competition on Wednesday, February 1, when they travel to Kearsley to take on the Linden Eagles and Goodrich Martians. Wrestling begins at 6:00 pm. 

Khloe Williams took first place at the MHSAA Girls Wrestling regional tournament in Hartland, Michigan, and earned another trip to the state finals. The undefeated Williams dominated her competition, pinning all three of her opponents.

This will be Khloe's second trip to Ford Field, having placed second at last year's inaugural MHSAA Girls Wreslting State Championships. Prior to that, she took first place her freshman year and second place her sophomore year at the MWA Girls Wrestling state tournament, which was held in partnership with MHSAA.
