Athletic Registration Information

IMPORTANT INFO FOR FALL 2024: 
Students may request a tryout card and submit their 2024-25 physical by completing the Tryout Card Request Form. We are offering this form to begin the process of checking eligibility and allowing athletes to submit their physical for the upcoming school year. Students and their parent/guardian will still be required to complete all required registration paperwork prior to the start of the season. 

Our new electronic registration portal is slated to open August 8th. Information on where to register and how complete the process will be shared on our social media pages and website when available.  We will also be offering in-person assistance for electronic registration during our Physical and Registration Night on August 8th. Details for this event and requirements for athletic participation can be found below.

The following information will help students and their parents prepare for athletic participation at Clio High School. Please read through the entire page carefully, as it contains answers to many commonly asked questions.

ATHLETIC FEE
The athletic fee is paid once per year and covers all three sports seasons. The fee must still be paid in-person. Cash or check (made payable to Clio Area Schools) can be turned in during regular school hours. 

  • High School athletic fee: $50.00
  • Middle School athletic fee: $25.00

 If a student's family has financial difficulty in paying participation fees, that student will not be denied the opportunity to participate.  Any student who wishes to participate, but is unable to because of financial hardship, should contact the athletic director.

TRYOUT CARDS (SEE ABOVE FOR FALL 2024 TRYOUT CARD REQUESTS)
Tryout cards can be requested in the athletic office during normal school hours. Once a student requests a tryout card, the office will verify that the student meets all the eligibility requirements, which are listed below.

If a student requests a tryout card but does not meet eligibility requirements, they will be contacted and provided information on how to further proceed. If a student requests a tryout card and meets participation requirements, the tryout card can be picked up the week prior to the start of the season. See the Athletic Department Pre-Season Checklist for specific dates.

ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY
  • Passed 5 of 6 classes previous semester
    • This requirement DOES NOT apply to freshmen during the fall season.
  • Must be passing 5 of 6 current classes
    • This requirement DOES NOT apply to student-athletes at the beginning of the fall season; however, student-athletes must be passing all classes at the time of the first weekly grade check in September.
DOCUMENTATION
  • Physical
    • Valid physicals for the 2024-25 school year must be dated on or after April 15, 2024. 
  • Electronic Registration (COMING SOON)
    • Clio Athletics will be transitioning to an electronic registration system for the Fall 2024 season. Please stay tuned for additional information.
STUDENT DEBT
  • Student must not owe any outstanding fees or equipment. These items must be taken care of prior to the student being cleared for participation.
  • Students and parents/guardians can look in Synergy (under Fees) to check student debt.
