It is the honor of Clio Area Schools to take Independence Day to introduce the first Hall of Fame inductee in the Distinguished Community Member category, 1991 Clio High School graduate Scott Sather. Scott was a two sport stalwart during his time at Clio High School where exhibited his grit, determination and leadership both on the baseball diamond and football field. Upon graduation, Scott enlisted in the United States Air Force where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant in his role as Combat Controller. On April 8, 2003, while leading his squadron in combat in Southern Iraq, Scott became the first US Airmen to lose his life in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Scott was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. Scott’s legacy lives on with all who knew him and admired his tenacity, leadership, and zest for life and our country. On this day of Independence, please take a moment to remember one of Clio’s true heroes, a man who dedicated his life to protecting and preserving our freedom and paid the ultimate price for all of us. The Clio Area Schools Hall of Fame is honored to have Scott Sather as one of our inaugural inductees.
